{"id":188,"date":"2020-03-30T11:36:59","date_gmt":"2020-03-30T10:36:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/kildwickringers.org.uk\/?page_id=188"},"modified":"2020-03-30T11:36:59","modified_gmt":"2020-03-30T10:36:59","slug":"a-puzzle","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/kildwickringers.org.uk\/index.php\/a-puzzle\/","title":{"rendered":"A puzzle"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The following was printed in this week&#8217;s Ringing World.\u00a0 It may appeal to some!\u00a0 The first question is quite easy.\u00a0 The second and third involve knowing a bit about Plain Bob.<\/p>\n<p>If you enjoy this challenge, why not subscribe to the Ringing World?\u00a0 They are doing an offer at the moment with a &#8220;New subscriber discount&#8221;\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/bb.ringingworld.co.uk\/subscribe.php\">See their page here<\/a><br \/>\nUse code \u2018RW2020\u2019 for 25% off for all new subscribers<\/p>\n<p>Three month subscription by post, \u00a320.00<br \/>\nSix month subscription, Online edition \u00a324.00<br \/>\nSix month subscription by post, \u00a335.00<br \/>\nAnnual subscription, Online edition \u00a344.00<br \/>\nAnnual subscription by post, \u00a364.00<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>Who rang what?<\/h2>\n<p>We started with six ringers at our six-bell practice.<\/p>\n<p>Ben is recovering from an injury so can\u2019t ring the 4, 5 or 6.<br \/>\nEmma and Charles started recently and are fine on covering and call changes.<br \/>\nEmma, unlike Charles, can also plain hunt well, but neither rings inside to methods.<\/p>\n<p>Ann, Donna and Frank all arrived together, and we decided to start with some call changes.<br \/>\nEmma is learning to call, so she was asked to call them (\u2018up\u2019, in our tower).\u201c1 to 2\u201d, \u201c1 to 3\u201d went OK, but at \u201c4 to 5\u201d there was a scrunch.<\/p>\n<p>Luckily Ann, perhaps because she was then following the bell that had gone wrong, quickly pointed out that the caller had failed to follow her own instruction to move up!<br \/>\nHaving got that sorted we had to stop because Frank was staring so intently at Charles, whom he was following, that Charles had a fit of giggles and totally failed to lead at the right time.<\/p>\n<p>Who was ringing which bell?<\/p>\n<p>We then regrouped, all of us except Frank moving to a different bell, and we tried a touch of Plain Bob Doubles.<br \/>\nAnn called a 120.<br \/>\nDonna hasn\u2019t learnt Bobs yet, so Ann kept Donna unaffected, calling a Bob at the first lead-end.<\/p>\n<p>Who was ringing which bell?<\/p>\n<p>Greg then arrived, so we decided to ring a plain course of Plain Bob Minor.<br \/>\nFrank is a bit of a stick-in-the-mud and elected to stay where he was, but some of the rest of the us changed bells.<br \/>\nIt went pretty well though Greg had to tell Frank \u201clead after me\u201d when Frank got a bit lost, and Donna made rather a mess of her dodge with Ben at the second lead-end.<\/p>\n<p>Who was ringing which bell?<\/p>\n<p>(The answer will be added here next week)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The following was printed in this week&#8217;s Ringing World.\u00a0 It may appeal to some!\u00a0 The first question is quite easy.\u00a0 The second and third involve knowing a bit about Plain Bob.
