{"id":783,"date":"2025-08-22T11:59:48","date_gmt":"2025-08-22T10:59:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/kildwickringers.org.uk\/?p=783"},"modified":"2025-08-22T11:59:48","modified_gmt":"2025-08-22T10:59:48","slug":"vj-day-2025","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kildwickringers.org.uk\/index.php\/2025\/08\/22\/vj-day-2025\/","title":{"rendered":"VJ Day 2025"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>The Forgotten Anniversary<\/h1>\n<p>The &#8220;Forgotten Army&#8221; of the war against Japan received far less acclaim when this conflict was finally ended on 15th August 1945.\u00a0 80 years on and the celebrations were still muted.<\/p>\n<p>However, in 793 places across the world, this event was marked with bells.\u00a0 \u00a0Kildwick joined with this celebration, ringing some excellently struck Plain Bob Doubles and some call changes, looked after by our younger ringers, George and Erin.<\/p>\n<p>Worldwide, the ringing took many forms and took place in many different places.\u00a0 From mightly cathedral bells to handbells in a sitting room &#8211; and even virtual bells, rung from two sides of the Atlantic, they rang out.\u00a0 They rang relatively simple call changes.\u00a0 A single bell tolled for the 80 years passed.\u00a0 Many quarter peals were rung &#8211; and several full peals too.<\/p>\n<p>The forgotten army, indeed.\u00a0 But not totally forgotten.\u00a0 We salute you.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Forgotten Anniversary The &#8220;Forgotten Army&#8221; of the war against Japan received far less acclaim when this conflict was finally ended on 15th August 1945.\u00a0 80 years on and the celebrations were still muted.
