The sound of church bells is an essential and iconic part of our soundscape.
Overlying the traffic noise and the song of birds, when you hear the bells,
you know you must be in England!
Can you help to save Kildwick’s bells?
We are running a project to refurbish Kildwick’s fine ring of bells to make them fit to ring out for a second century. These bells could carry your name into the 22nd century! (though I shan’t be around to check…)

The key to your involvement is our sponsor sheet.
Here, you let us know that you are interested and that we can contact you.
If you can help us financially, there’s a place to add that too.
Of course we want donations – but your interest and involvement is also crucial.
(Two key people could save us £11,000 – all without paying us a penny!)
Sponsorship
A major part of our appeal is to find sponsors. A sponsor is someone who has contributed £60.00 or more and who would like to be involved with our project.
If you choose to sponsor a particular element of the project, we’ll record your name in a register to be kept in the tower.
To say “thank you” to our sponsors, we will be ringing a special “touch” (a defined piece of ringing) which will be recorded on a certificate for you to keep. The more special touches (yes, for the bigger donations!!) will also be recorded in the national register of ringing performances at bb.ringingworld.co.uk.
We can’t promise when we’ll be able to do this – you may need to wait a while!
A Celebration
A sponsor will leave a long-term mark. Many will want to use this to record notable events:
- A birthday or anniversary
- A wedding (did we ring for yours?)
- In memory
- In celebration
Let us know and we’ll do what we can.
All donations, however large or small, are welcome, acknowledged and recorded.
Head over to our donations page – and thank you!
