Become involved

The sound of church bells is an essential and iconic part of our soundscape.
Overlying the traffic noise and the song of birds, when you hear the bells,
you know you must be in England!

Can you help to save Kildwick’s bells?

We are running a project to refurbish Kildwick’s fine ring of bells to make them fit to ring out for a second century.  These bells could carry your name into the 22nd century!  (though I shan’t be around to check…)

The key to your involvement is our sponsor sheet.
Here, you let us know that you are interested and that we can contact you.
If you can help us financially, there’s a place to add that too.
Of course we want donations – but your interest and involvement is also crucial.
(Two key people  could save us £11,000 – all without paying us a penny!)

Sponsorship

A major part of our appeal is to find sponsors.  A sponsor is someone who has contributed £60.00 or more and who would like to be involved with our project.

If you choose to sponsor a particular element of the project, we’ll write your name (non-invasively) on the part if that’s sensible as well as recording everyone’s contribution in a register to be kept in the tower.

To say “thank you” to our sponsors, we will be ringing a special “touch” (a defined piece of ringing) which will be recorded on a certificate for you to keep.  The more special touches (yes, for the bigger donations!!) will also be recorded in the national register of ringing performances at bb.ringingworld.co.uk.
We can’t promise when we’ll be able to do this – you may need to wait a while!

Make a group

While “Sponsorship” starts at £60.00 there’s an easy way for two or more of you to pool smaller donations to make a bigger splash!

  • To create a group, you need to settle on a name.
(If you pick one that’s likely to be common, there may be confusion!)
  • Each member of the group will then fill out their own form, using the group name in the box.
  • We will collate the forms when they arrive.
(although it’s helpful if they are submitted together, it’s not necessary)
  • Entries for a group will remain open for a week after the first one is submitted.
  • Donations will be recorded individually in the Roll of Honour book.
  • Your group will be credited with the total of sponsorship received
the group name will be used on your certificate and on any inscription.
  • Your group name must be unique.
  • You cannot join a group more than a week after it was created
  • The spelling of the group name must be consistent across all the forms
(“Flintstones”, “The Flintstones” and “Flintstone’s” will form three different groups)

A Celebration

A sponsor will leave a long-term mark.  Many will want to use this to record notable events:

  • A birthday or anniversary
  • A wedding (did we ring for yours?)
  • In memory
  • In celebration

Let us know and we’ll do what we can.

All donations, however large or small, are welcome, acknowledged and recorded.
Head over to our donations page – and thank you!
